The City of Akron will celebrate July Fourth with food, music and fireworks at the All-American Burger & BBQ Festival.
The free festival runs July 2 to 4 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Lock 3 in downtown Akron. Attendees can enjoy food from After Hours BBQ, Pigfoot BBQ, Stray Dog, Big Blue BBQ, Da Dawg House, Metro45 Mobile Kitchen & Catering, Come Get Fried, Lady T’s Soulfood, The Press Room, The Ice Bucket, Eddies Famous Cheesesteaks, Buzzy Bee and Homemade Delites.
Concerts will take place each day at the Maynard Performance Pavilion. Guests can bring a chair or blanket or rent a chair for $3. The music kicks off at 7 p.m. on July 2 with America Remembers, a variety show featuring seven decades of popular music performed by The Dave Banks Big Band.
On July 3, the music will start at noon with performances from Easton Union, Charity Evonna, Post Saga, JT’s Electric Blackout, Michael Weber Show and Donnie Iris and The Cruisers.
Guests can purchase reserved seating tickets for Donnie Iris and The Cruisers online or in person at Akron Civic Theatre, Goodyear Theater and E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall.
DJ Xay and DJ Jaz will play on and off throughout the day on July 4. Other acts that day include children’s musician Mr. Jeff, Great Day For Ducks and Dirty Lookz. Also on July 4, the City of Akron’s fireworks show will light up the night sky at 9:45 p.m.
Those with little ones can stop by the Buckeye State Credit Union Kids’ Zone. It will be open each day of the festival from 5 to 9 p.m. Activities will include a maze, bouncy slide and more. The Akron Children’s Museum will also be open July 2 and 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $8.
City-owned parking garages and parking meters are free after 6 p.m. on weeknights and free all day July Fourth.
