Board President Diana Autry said Wednesday night the Akron Board of Education planned to release a statement on Thursday — the only explanation following another special board meeting where members discussed an unknown topic in executive session.

After the three-hour meeting, Autry declined to elaborate.

The special meeting was called for members to “consider the employment, dismissal, and discipline of a public employee(s),” according to the meeting notice.

Last week, the school board met in executive session for more than seven hours over two days, which is its right under Ohio public meetings law when it is discussing certain personnel matters.
