More than 8,000 runners are expected this weekend for Saturday’s Akron Marathon, Half Marathon and Team Relay races — be sure to know which roads will be closed during the race.

Also, fall festivals begin to kick in this weekend with the Barberton Mum Festival, Stow Harvest Festival and the Fall Family Fun Fest in Cuyahoga Falls.

Firestone Theatre will kick off its new season Thursday with “Six the Musical.” The wives of Henry VIII are reimagined as competing pop singers in this production, which runs through Sunday. The prize: lead singer of the band. The way to win: Prove they had the worst experience at the hands of their shared husband. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Sunday’s show is at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10-$18 plus fees. 

This weekend in Akron number 2

Enjoy Italian food, live music, artist demonstrations and more at Tuscany on Tusc, an annual street festival in downtown Barberton benefiting Magical Theatre Company. Singer Michael Sonata will channel Ol’ Blue Eyes, and the Tuscan Trio will perform traditional Italian music. The free festival will take place on West Tuscarawas Avenue between Third and Fifth streets. The fun begins at 6 p.m. Friday.

The Akron Marathon weekend kicks off Friday with the all-day Health & Fitness Expo at the John S. Knight Center and the Kids Fun Run at Akron Children’s Hospital. On Saturday, head downtown to cheer on racers in the marathon, half marathon and team relay. The racers will take off from the Akron Art Museum at 7 a.m. Along the way they’ll pass through the University of Akron, the Towpath Trail, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, Highland Square and more.
