This weekend, I’ll have family in town, and I plan to show them Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It will be their first time visiting the park. With the great weather, I’ve been spending a lot of time at the national park and Summit Metro Parks. Anyone else doing the Fall Hiking Spree? I’m at five hikes so far. Yesterday, I walked the Towpath from Wilbeth Road to Manchester Road.
Speaking of Cuyahoga Valley, the park recently kicked off its 50th anniversary. It will feature special programming throughout this year and next. Visit nps.gov/cuva to see what’s in store.

Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome — to “Cabaret” at Weathervane Playhouse. The theater will turn into the famous Kit Kat Club for a round of performances of the beloved musical, which is set in Berlin at the tail end of the 1920s — before the Nazis rose to power. The show runs through Oct. 20 with performances Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $16 to $36, and there are still some left for tonight’s show as well as for this weekend’s.

Sample craft beers and artisan pizzas Saturday at Pints & Pies at the Akron Civic Theatre. Guests can try a variety of locally made pies — pizza, savory and sweet — as well as beers from 20 breweries, including some Northeast Ohio favorites. Tickets are $45 plus fees, and guests must be 21 years or older. The event begins at 7 p.m.

Head to Hale Farm & Village this weekend for the annual Harvest Festival. The two-day event runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The family-friendly fest will give guests an up-close look at life on a 19th century farm, including chores, traditions and foods. There will also be interactive exhibits throughout the grounds and buildings. Admission to Hale Farm & Village is $15 for adults (ages 13 and older) and $8 for youth (ages 3 to 12). Admission is free for Western Reserve Historical Society members, active military and children age 2 or younger.
