This week I got a start on my holiday shopping. I love gift-giving, but trying to find the perfect present for some people can be an exercise in perseverance. (I’m looking at you, Dad.)

The whole family will enjoy the Magical Theatre Company’s production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” The play tells the story of a group of rowdy siblings who decide to participate in their town’s annual holiday show. The production’s first show is Friday at 7:30 p.m. It runs every weekend through Sunday, Dec. 22. Tickets are $18-$20. Magical Theatre Company is located in Barberton at 565 W. Tuscarawas Ave.
Make Saturday an art-filled day and view the latest exhibits at Akron Soul Train, Summit Artspace and the Akron Art Museum. Akron Soul Train is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Summit Artspace is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both galleries are free to visit. The museum is open Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $3-$12. Children 17 and younger and University of Akron students, faculty and staff with valid Zip Cards receive free admission.
Join Summit Metro Parks on Sunday for Crafting Seasonal Centerpieces at Liberty Park in Twinsburg. Materials (and cocoa) will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring additional clippings, decor and a small vase. This free event runs from noon to 2 p.m. and takes place at the nature center (9999 Liberty Road). Afterward, take advantage of the expected sunshine and explore one of the five trails that start by the center.
