There’s plenty happening around Akron this weekend as the city gears up to ring in the new year. We’re highlighting three events, including a local singer’s EP release show and a New Year’s Eve party at a downtown bar.

  1. Local songstress Samantha Grace will host a release show for her new EP, “Five After Midnight,” Friday at Musica. Also playing are Sixth Dimension and Lovers In Reverse. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Doors will open at 8 p.m., and the show starts at 9 p.m.
  2. Hower House Museum’s “Holiday in Bloom” continues this weekend. Tours of the Victorian mansion will be offered from 12 to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday with the final tour starting an hour before closing.
