In February, Akron Public Schools approved the next phase of the $85 million project to build a new North High School. Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with the new building opening in the 2029–30 school year. The new building will be designed to hold about 1,100 students, up from its current 900, as enrollment in the North Hill neighborhood grows, said Debra Foulk, the district’s executive director of business affairs.
