Here are three things to do in and around Akron this weekend.

Your Akron weekend plans

On Friday, stop by the Goodyear Heights neighborhood for the first Watertower Marketplace of the summer. Taking place at Public Square Triangle Park, the seasonal family-friendly market will feature live music performances, local vendors, food and kids’ activities. One Fine Day, a cover band playing girl group hits from the ’60s and ’70s, will headline Friday’s market. The free event kicks off at 7 p.m. Can’t make it this week? Watertower Marketplace will take place again July 18 and Aug. 1 and 8.

Join Summit Metro Parks and South Street Ministries for Intro to Mountain Biking on Saturday at Hampton Hills Metro Park. After reviewing bike and trail safety, participants will take a ride on the park’s beginner and moderate biking loops. A class will be offered at 10 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. Attendees must bring their own bikes and helmets. The classes are free to attend, but registration is required. Meet at 2092 Theiss Road.

The 75th annual Summit County Italian-American Festival will once again take over downtown this weekend. Enjoy food, performances, music and more at this long-running local favorite. This year’s festival will take place at the newly renovated Lock 3 on Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 11 p.m.

Mr. Jeff is currently on his 2025 Loud in the Library tour around Northeast Ohio. See if he’s coming to a library near you, and get ready for one epic sing-along.
