Signal Akron’s Best of the City competition invites readers to nominate and vote on some of their favorite places to eat, drink and be merry.

We set out, With help from Signal Akron readers, to find the local eats that make our city authentically Akron. 

From best restaurant to Galley Boys to best pizza, here are your most-favored food and drink spots in Akron. Each of the winners in 12 categories is marked by style, ambience and, let’s face it, just plain ol’ good food.

Help us tell more stories for Akronites

Every day, our team works to deliver stories that reflect the different voices and experiences of those that live in Akron and Summit County, holding leaders accountable and highlighting solutions that move us forward.

Just this year, we’ve continued our nonpartisan reporting on how policy decisions both at both the state and federal levels are having direct impacts here in Akron.

We are keeping an eye on investigations at Akron Public Schools, Akron Mayor Shammas Malik’s plans to support new affordable housing in the city and much more.

We are also telling the stories of Akronites like Julia Perry, who wrote more than 100 pieces of music and conducted some of the best orchestras in Europe. And Kali Oliver, a talented modern dancer, who dreamed one day of joining the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. That dream came true in 2024.
