Here are three things to do in and around Akron this weekend.
Your Akron weekend plans
What’s better than a Friday night concert? A free Friday night concert. Enjoy music from Akron metalcore band Avarice and Youngstown rockers Negative Zen and Trojan Horse at Musica. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m.
Enjoy a Saturday evening bike ride through Boston Heights with a Summit Metro Parks naturalist. Cyclists will take a slow to moderate-paced trip along the Bike & Hike Trail. Along the way, they’ll learn about the geology of the Boston Ledges and Brandywine Falls. The round trip ride is 8.6 miles. Participants should meet at the State Route 303 lot (64 W. Streetsboro Road, Boston Heights) at 6 p.m.
Get those feet moving and have fun doing it at Sunday’s Line Dancing on the Plaza. An instructor from Just Us Line Dance Crew will lead participants in an hour-long class that’s perfect for dancers and nondancers alike. The free hour-long class kicks off at 2 p.m. at Cascade Plaza. Can’t make it to this session? Line Dancing on the Plaza takes place Wednesdays and Sundays through Aug. 31. Check out more free downtown fitness classes here.
