A Shakespearean tragedy, a musical based on Tina Turner’s life and a big band tribute to Tony Bennett are just a few of the shows coming to Akron this year and next. Keep reading to see what’s coming up next season for the Ohio Shakespeare Festival, Weathervane Playhouse, Akron Symphony, Broadway in Akron and Tuesday Musical. 

Ohio Shakespeare Festival

Ohio Shakespeare Festival’s 2024-2025 season runs from July 4 to May 18, 2025, and includes six shows and the organization’s annual Halloween gala. Single tickets for all shows and subscriber packages are now available. A full season subscription is $175, and the indoor-only season subscription is $110. (Ohio Shakespeare Festival stages productions outdoors at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and indoors at Greystone Hall.) Early bird pricing for the Halloween gala is available until Thursday, Aug. 1.

Weathervane Playhouse

Weathervane’s 90th season runs from Aug. 8 to July 20, 2025, and includes five musicals, two dramas and the organization’s annual festival showcasing new plays. Tickets for the season’s first show, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” are currently on sale, as are subscription packages, which start at $170. Single tickets for the rest of the shows go on sale June 4.

Akron Symphony

Akron Symphony’s 2024-2025 season runs from Sept. 21 to May 10, 2025, and features nine concerts, including long-running favorites Holiday Pops and Gospel Meets Symphony. Season subscriptions are available and start at $112. James Buckey, the symphony’s director of marketing, said single-show tickets should go on sale in August. All shows take place at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall.

Broadway in Akron

Playhouse Square’s Broadway in Akron 2024-2025 season runs from Sept. 24 to March 26, 2025, and features four musicals. Current season ticket holders have until Monday, June 3, to keep their seats for the upcoming season. Those interested in purchasing new season tickets can do so here. Ticket packages are $70 to $350 each. Tickets for individual shows are not yet on sale. All performances take place at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall.

Tuesday Musical

Tuesday Musical’s 137th season runs from Oct. 22 to April 22, 2025. All of the performances take place on — you guessed it — Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall. Season subscriptions start at $90 for six shows and are on sale now. (There are also three- and four-show subscription packages.) Single-concert tickets start at $19 and will go on sale Thursday, July 25.
