The Akron Board of Education has scheduled a special board meeting with the intent of convening into executive session to discuss potential discipline of a public employee.
It’s unclear who the board will discuss at the meeting — scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the administration building.
The board has the right to use executive sessions to discuss employment of specific employees in private. In this case, board members plan to use executive session to discuss: “the employment, dismissal, and discipline of a public employee(s) and/or official(s) and to take potential action, in open session, related to the employment, dismissal, and discipline of a public employee(s) and/or official(s),” according to a notice by the district.
The board will also elect a president pro tempore to preside over board elections and member appointments to subcommittees and district clusters. Current Board President Diana Autry and Vice Present Carla Jackson are able to run for reelection, but maintaining their positions is not guaranteed.
