Goodyear’s European president is on a leave of absence and the company’s chief financial officer, Christina Zamarro, will lead the region on an interim basis.

Christopher Delaney has been president of the Europe, Middle East and Africa division of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. since 2017, according to a biography on the company’s website. He joined Goodyear in 2015.

Delaney’s leave of absence began April 4 and was announced Monday in a two-sentence filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. It did not give a reason for his temporary departure but said Zamarro will take on the role in addition to her job as CFO.

Reports from Europe say that Delaney’s wife was killed last month at their home in Brussels in what appeared to be a robbery

The reports say that Delaney’s secretary was arrested in the murder investigation. A spokesperson for Goodyear said the company had nothing to add about how long his absence is expected to last or any next steps for the company.
