With 2024 fully in motion, many local arts groups have put out calls for for project proposals, award nominations and scholarships. Here are a few Akron organizations with upcoming application deadlines:

For local artists

Artists have until Jan. 31 to submit proposals for Outside the Box, Curated Storefront’s shipping containers-turned-mobile art galleries located at TrueNorth Akron. The arts organization will select four artists/collectives to create installations inside one of the shipping containers at Outside the Box.

Summit Artspace is accepting nominations for its annual Arts Alive Awards. The awards honor local artists in 11 categories, including Emerging Artist, Rising Arts Leader and Outstanding Artist in Music. Nominations can be submitted online until Monday, Feb. 5. Nominations will then be evaluated by a committee of previous Arts Alive Award winners who will then choose the recipients for each category. The Arts Alive Awards and Gala will take place Tuesday, May 14, at Summit Artspace. 

For college music students

Ohio college students who are studying music have until Feb. 1 to apply for Tuesday Musical’s 2024 Scholarship Competition. The local nonprofit will award 28 scholarships totaling more than $40,000. The competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are Ohio residents or are studying with a music teacher at an Ohio college or university.
