The theme of Ohio’s In-Demand Jobs Week, which starts today, is “Ohio, The Heart of Opportunity.” Multiple agencies across Akron and Summit County took that phrase to heart and have set up multiple ways for students, job seekers and employers to connect over the next seven days.
Job opportunities just for Gen Z
Anyone 27 or under can chat with employers and explore part-time, full-time and summer seasonal jobs and internships. The virtual event is Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. Go here to learn more and register.
On Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. Akron Public Libraries hosts Career Summit 2024. Job seekers from 17 to 29 years old can meet Summit County employers at this free event. Multiple topics will be covered including:
- How to find a job
- How to find a college or technical school
- How to find a trade school or training program
- How to write a resume and cover letter
- How to prepare for an interview
- What to wear to work
- How to advance in your career
Three fairs, one in Akron, highlight in-demand jobs
The 7th annual In-Demand Jobs Week features opportunities for job seekers to connect with employers.
All job seekers can attend any of these in-person job fairs sponsored by OhioMeansJobs Summit County:
- Information technology | Monday | noon to 2 p.m. | Twinsburg Public Library, 10050 Ravenna Rd, Twinsburg
- Health care | Tuesday | 1 to 3 p.m. | Cuyahoga Falls Public Library, 2015 3rd St., Cuyahoga Falls
- Manufacturing, IT, health care | Thursday | 10 to 11:30 a.m. and noon to 4 p.m. | REACH Opportunity Center, 390 West Crosier St., Akron
Dozens of employers will be available at the fairs through the week, including Summa Health, Crystal Clinic, Compass Computer Group and others. No registration is required. Learn more here.
Events occurring across the state
Akron and Summit County aren’t the only places showcasing jobs this week. From Toledo to Cleveland, Columbus to Cincinnati and lots of locations in between, there are more than 50 job-related events happening this week.
Cuyahoga Community College is hosting a series of workforce training programs in Cleveland that are free and open to the public. The events feature hands-on activities including a health lab simulator and demonstrations with robotics and computer-assisted manufacturing processes.
