Five Greater Akron sites on new driving trail highlight Ohio’s artistic heritage

A new statewide experiential driving trail highlighting Ohio’s arts and cultural attractions includes five sites in Summit County.

The Creativity Trail is part of the state’s celebration of the United States’ semiquincentennial, or 250th birthday, in 2026. The trail includes 108 sites in 41 counties categorized by theme: music, visual arts, glass and pottery, folk and traditional arts, carousel art and on the page, which represents authors, poets and illustrators.

Representing Summit County on the trail are the Akron Art Museum (visual arts), the Akron Zoo (carousel art), Clayton Bailey’s World of Wonders (visual arts), Hale Farm & Village (folk and traditional arts) and the Maple Valley Branch Library (on the page). 

The Creativity Trail is the second of six experiential trails created by America 250-Ohio Commission, the organization responsible for Ohio’s celebrations of the country’s 250th. The first trail, Air & Space Trail, launched in May 2024. It features 34 sites including the Akron History Center, the MAPS Air Museum in Green and Wingfoot Lake State Park in Mogadore.
