Akron-area school leaders warn school vouchers are draining public education funding
Leaders from Akron, Copley-Fairlawn, Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson, Manchester, Mogadore, Stow-Munroe Falls, Tallmadge and Twinsburg school districts were scheduled to discuss challenges to public education.
Akron Mayor Shammas Malik took the oath of office on January 1, 2024, for his first four-year term. Malik, who was the Ward 8 council member, became the presumptive mayor when he finished first in the seven-candidate Democratic primary and did not face a Republican challenger in the general election.
