Why are you the best candidate for the office?

I am a proud Revere alumna and parent of current Revere students, which gives me both a deep connection to our schools and a personal stake in their future. Since 2020, I have attended nearly 120 Board of Education meetings, gaining insight into the challenges and opportunities facing our district. I currently serve as Vice-President of the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center Board of Education and chair its Policy Committee, as well as serve on the Revere Schools Foundation Board. These roles have strengthened my experience in governance, policy, and collaboration. My priority is ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed, knowing that success looks different for each student. I believe in transparency, respectful collaboration, and community engagement. Every decision I make will be focused on what best serves students and families while continuing Revere’s tradition of excellence.

What are the most significant issues facing the school district and what ideas do you have to address these issues?

Students face enormous pressure to achieve academically, athletically and/or socially. I will seek to expand access to mental health support, ensure clear student pathways to both college and career readiness, and continue to foster a culture where every child feels safe entering our buildings.

Like many districts, Revere must keep focus on students while balancing their needs with diverse views from the community. I will emphasize transparency in decision-making, keep political ideology out of setting policy, and focus on Revere’s shared value of delivering an outstanding education for every student.

What ideas do you have for ensuring safety in your school district?

Ensuring safety in Revere Local Schools requires a balanced approach that addresses both physical security and student well-being. This means maintaining secure facilities with updated technology, strong emergency preparedness plans, and close collaboration between the district, the SROs and local law enforcement. At the same time, true safety also requires supporting students’ mental health, promoting respect, and addressing concerns early on through clear communication between staff, parents, and students. By combining strong security measures with a caring, inclusive culture, we can create schools where students feel protected, supported, and ready to learn.

What action, if any, do you believe the Board of Education should take to support all students and ensure they are provided with a high-quality, meaningful education?

The Board should ensure every action supports student success by making data-focused decisions that prioritize academic growth and student well-being. This means using performance data, surveys, and community input to identify needs, measure progress, and guide resources. Supporting teachers with tools and training, maintaining safe and welcoming environments, and providing diverse pathways, whether those paths lead to college, career, or trades, are all essential. By combining transparency, fiscal responsibility, and data-driven continuous improvement, the Board can ensure all Revere students receive a high-quality, meaningful education.

Why are you the best candidate for the office?

I come with no ulterior motives, no political motivations, and no specific ideological agenda. I am not accepting a single dollar from any political party or affiliated group with specific motivations. Every penny will be raised from my friends, family and other members of our community that know my heart, and believe I can be an effective leader for our district. My family has been in the Revere community for 75 years. My three boys will be third generation Revere and the 12th, 13th and 14th members of my family to walk the halls of Revere Schools. We care deeply about this community and the Revere school system, and we simply want to pay forward all the good this community and our schools have done for us. I want to make a difference in the world, bring unity, strong leadership, and an objective approach to serving as a member of the board of education. This is an incredible opportunity for my family to serve, and I will unequivocally rebuild trust between the community and our board.

What are the most significant issues facing the school district and what ideas do you have to address these issues?

Trust – There is a tangible level of distrust that many in our community have expressed with our current board. Policy must be debated and discussed with transparency. Not just amongst board members, but with the community, especially with policy that could fundamentally change our district.

Funding – If Ohio passes law or policy that fundamentally changes the way public schools are funded, by removing or drastically altering property tax, Revere must have a plan in place to replace the massive amount of local funding that will be lost.

Political & Ideological bias. We need leaders who can put their personal political/ideological bias aside, be objective & support policy that benefits EVERY child, & maintain trust w/ the community.

What ideas do you have for ensuring safety in your school district?

First – I believe our staff, admin, board, school safety team and SROs have done a good job implementing safety measures over the last few years. There is always more that can be done, but they have taken tangible action to further the physical safety of our buildings with man power, technology and infrastructure.

I would love to name a board liaison to the school safety team to ensure the board is properly supporting the safety team and SROs with policy that empowers their ability to keep our kids safe. I also believe safety ties into mental health, and ensuring that the board is supporting and passing policy to strengthen the mental health of our students and staff is critically important. Appropriate numbers of counselors & mental health specialists. A holistic approach to student health and well being.

Summit County School Safety Commission – A committee to ensure all local schools are sharing best practices & utilizing all local resources to keep our schools safe.

What action, if any, do you believe the Board of Education should take to support all students and ensure they are provided with a high-quality, meaningful education?

I believe our board should support a holistic approach to education. Physical health, high-quality curriculum, appropriate mental health resources, physical safety, and an environment that provides a runway for all kids to thrive. That means ensuring our IEP programs remain robust, our high achievers have the tools to excel, but we also have robust support for all the kids in between. I believe we could benefit from more adaptable educational experience that takes into account the education needs, strengths & weaknesses of each student, and applies those to tailored curriculum that truly best prepares each student for whatever career path that fits best with who they are as individuals.

Our kids are also growing up with cell phones and social media in the palm of their hands 24/7. School boards have an opportunity to pass policy that supports the mental health of our kids, protect against bullying, and ensures our kids are not just physically safe, but mentally safe & stable as well.

Why are you the best candidate for the office?

I am the best candidate because I bring proven experience, deep commitment, and a clear vision for Revere’s future. For the past five years, I have served on the school board, guiding the district through challenges such as COVID while keeping schools open and maintaining a five-star rating. We also made safety a top priority by adding a new School Resource Officer, providing staff training, upgrading security software, and installing protective devices to remain proactive.

As a 1991 graduate and the parent of three current students and one graduate, I know what makes Revere special. For more than 20 years, I have volunteered as a coach, booster club member, and on hiring committees. My dedication and leadership are why I am the best choice to continue serving Revere.

What are the most significant issues facing the school district and what ideas do you have to address these issues?

The Board of Education must ensure every student has the resources, opportunities, and support they need to succeed. This means upholding Revere’s tradition of academic excellence while closing learning gaps and preparing students for life after graduation. Education must prepare students for both college and career pathways by strengthening academics and expanding Career and Technical Education. Technology should be purposeful, enhancing learning, building digital literacy, and using AI responsibly while balancing screen time with face-to-face instruction. Strong partnerships with families and the community build trust, align goals with shared values, and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.

What ideas do you have for ensuring safety in your school district?

Student and staff safety is a top priority, and Revere has taken significant steps to strengthen security across the district. Last year, we added a new School Resource Officer and provided specialized START training for all transportation employees, along with safety training for bus drivers. Each of our four school buildings now has secured entry areas, interior and exterior security cameras, and bullet-resistant film on glass entry points and doors. We also implemented a visitor management system, installed door-prop alarms on all exterior doors, and placed threat extinguisher devices in main offices that automatically notify 911 when deployed. In addition, all staff participated in full-scale active shooter training in partnership with Bath and Richfield safety forces. These measures reflect our commitment to building a safe and welcoming environment, and I will continue to support proactive investments in training, technology, and community partnerships to keep our schools secure.

What action, if any, do you believe the Board of Education should take to support all students and ensure they are provided with a high-quality, meaningful education?

The Board of Education must do more than maintain the status quo. It should lead with purpose to ensure every student has the tools, opportunities, and support needed to succeed. Revere must continue its tradition of academic excellence while addressing learning gaps and preparing students for both college and career pathways. This includes strong academics as well as Career and Technical Education, arts, trades, and dual-credit programs that provide meaningful options for the future.

It is equally important to ensure all students receive the best possible education, whether advanced learners, those on IEPs, or in special education. Technology should be used wisely to enhance instruction, build digital skills, and meet diverse needs while maintaining balance with personal, face-to-face learning.

Finally, open communication with families, building trust, and keeping schools connected to community values will create an environment where every student not only learns but thrives.

Why are you the best candidate for the office?

I’m running for re-election to the Revere School Board to continue advancing the academic excellence, fiscal responsibility, and student-centered focus that have made our district one of the top 5% in Ohio. With a 99.6% graduation rate, 5-star state ratings, and strong AP and career programs, our schools are thriving. As Board President and a parent, I bring a logical, collaborative approach rooted in transparency and results. My diverse background—as a former prosecutor, corporate leader, and community volunteer—gives me the experience to navigate complex challenges. I have prioritized safety, academic excellence, strategic planning, and financial stewardship. I am proud of what we have achieved as a District during my 7 years on the board of education and I am committed to building on that success.

What are the most significant issues facing the school district and what ideas do you have to address these issues?

Supporting early learners and students with special needs is critical as our preschool population grows. We have expanded services, added qualified and highly respected administrators and staff with direct experience in intervention services, special education, and student support with proven results.  We must continue to manage class sizes and ensure resources meet all students’ needs. Fiscal responsibility remains essential. We have avoided a new operating levy since 2011 and maintain a $25.1M reserve, but rising costs require ongoing discipline and smart planning. Revere is a district of excellence, and we must lead with foresight, transparency, and a continued focus on academic success, safety, and opportunity for every student.

What ideas do you have for ensuring safety in your school district?

The safety of our students, staff, community, and visitors is a top priority. During my tenure, Revere has taken proactive, innovative steps to strengthen security district-wide. We added a second School Resource Officer in partnership with the Summit County Sheriff’s Department, enhancing collaboration with local law enforcement. All school buildings now have secured entry vestibules, upgraded security cameras, and bullet-resistant film on doors and entry points. We have implemented a visitor management system, door-prop alarms, and threat extinguishers in main offices that automatically alert 911. We collaborated with local law enforcement to provide all staff members with live active shooter training, and transportation staff received START safety training. I will continue supporting our strong partnership with the Revere Schools Foundation, which provides critical funding to help maintain our strong commitment to safety.

What action, if any, do you believe the Board of Education should take to support all students and ensure they are provided with a high-quality, meaningful education?

The Board must stay focused on academic excellence while meeting the diverse needs of all students. This includes investing in rigorous coursework like Advanced Placement and College Credit Plus, while strengthening support systems for those who may struggle academically or socially. Special education and early learning programs must grow with demand, and staffing and resources must align with student needs. We should continue expanding real-world, project-based learning through our Vision of a Minuteman and strongly support students pursuing trades and programs at CVCC. Our schools must remain safe and welcoming through strong partnerships with law enforcement, continued staff training, and open communication with families. Finally, the Board must continue to lead with transparency, fiscal responsibility, and a long-term commitment to maintaining Revere’s traditions and academic excellence—ensuring our schools remain a source of pride without overburdening taxpayers.
