As SNAP benefits are cut for area immigrants and the federal shutdown affects local paychecks, here’s a list of days and times for area food pantries — many are listed on the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank’s Find a Program page.

It can help you find food pantries and meals in your area, along with other information about visiting food resource agencies. Signal Akron will continue to update the list on a rolling basis, at least until the federal shutdown ends.

Be sure to bring your ID to the food distribution you choose.

You will not be required to provide proof of dependents or income, but you may be asked to fill out and sign a form, typically electronic, stating that you are eligible to receive food based on your household size and income. (See this FAQ for more details, including information about eligibility.)

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank acts as a storage and distribution facility for food pantries — it only distributes directly to the community at specific days and times throughout the month as follows:

Venarge Family Food Pantry at 350 Opportunity Pkwy. in Akron on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Keith D. Monda Family Food Pantry at 1365 Cherry Ave. NE in Canton on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Editor’s note: Direct distributions noted on some of the listings below mean the food bank will be transporting and distributing a large volume of food to the location — as many as 16,000 pounds of food can be distributed in approximately two hours, including fresh produce.
