Here’s a roundup of our key election stories and resources: 

  1. Local issues. In partnership with the League of Women Voters of the Akron Area, we have information on more than 30 issues that you might see on your ballot in both Akron and Summit County, including the Akron Public SchoolsYou can find the rundown here.
  2. Local candidates. Also in partnership with the LWVAA we have candidate information on 30 races that you might see on your ballot. This includes Ohio House and Senate races, Summit County Council and Summit County offices, like the fiscal officer, prosecutor and sheriff. Find it all here.
  3. Local judges: There are three open seats on the Summit County Court of Common Pleas. Here’s who’s running and what they say about how they’ll rule.
  4. Ohio Supreme Court: In partnership with The Marshall Project, we have a guide to the candidates for the Ohio Supreme Court.
  5. Issue 1: If you are still unsure about Issue 1, we’ve got a number of explainers to break it down for you. Here is a nonpartisan cheat sheet to supplement the more-detailed Issue 1 explainers we have.
  6. Congressional race: Ohio’s 13th Congressional District between incumbent Democrat Emilia Sykes and challenger Republican Kevin Coughlin is being watched as one that could affect which party controls Congress. See what Sykes and Coughlin said while speaking at the Akron Press Club recently.

When are polls open in Ohio?

Friday: County boards of election will be open for early, in-person voting from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Saturday: Early voting hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sunday: Early voting hours are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is the final day of early, in-person voting.

Monday: Mail ballots must be postmarked by this date in order to be counted. They will count only if they arrive at county elections offices by Nov. 9, four days after the election. 

Tuesday: Election Day. Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
