Akron Public Schools to host forum on vouchers, funding and ‘devastating’ effects on public education
Public school districts throughout Summit County — including Akron Public Schools — will participate a community forum Tuesday evening at Firestone Community Learning Center to highlight what they say are threats to public education.
Akron Mayor Shammas Malik took the oath of office on January 1, 2024, for his first four-year term. Malik, who was the Ward 8 council member, became the presumptive mayor when he finished first in the seven-candidate Democratic primary and did not face a Republican challenger in the general election.
