The Merriman Valley neighborhood, locally known as “The Valley,” caps some of Akron’s northernmost areas. The neighborhood was part of Northampton Township before it was annexed by the City of Akron in the 1980s – the remaining township land ended up merging with Cuyahoga Falls in 1986.

The Merriman Valley sits at the southern end of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and boasts nature trails and parks including Sand Run Metro Park, Cascade Valley Metro Park, and the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail.

In addition to its park offerings, The Valley is home to the Weathervane Playhouse and features lots of options for dining and shopping.
