Why are you the best candidate for the office?

I am an Independent running for the people of Barberton and not for a partisan machine. My focus is on our city and how we can positively impact the citizens of Barberton. I have spoken to many citizens who have stated that our community needs new voices and leadership. I bring that, as a citizen with two teenagers who wants to create a city that our children want to keep as their home as they grow.

I have a wide variety of life and professional experiences that make me uniquely qualified. From local restaurant management to Analyst in the private sector, I can help bring the perspective to city hall about how we can impact our citizens with smart financial budgeting.

I will stand by any of my decisions made and continually encourage our community to be more involved with civics. I will listen to the community about what changes, development, and ideas they have to help our community grow. I understand that Barbertonians and their voices matter.

What are the top priorities you seek to address once in office?

I have five priorities that I hope to impact while in office:

1. Accountability and Transparency –  open, honest communication and responsive government. I’ll work to ensure that your voice is heard, your concerns are addressed, and city decisions are made with input from the community.

2. Infrastructure and Reliability –  I believe that we should explore electrical independence and focus on the flooding that has consistently been a problem. and updating roads in neighborhoods.

3. Community Engagement –  increase public participation in city matters — from accessibility of council meetings to more transparent processes and clearer communication from City Hall.

4. Beautification –  I will support clean-up efforts, stronger code enforcement, and smart development that enhances our neighborhoods and attracts new investment.

5. Financial Responsibility –  my professional background in financial analysis and my MBA in finance, I will bring sound fiscal management to council decisions

What strategies will you use to accomplish those priorities?

It will take collaboration with other council members and the mayor to accomplish all priorities. We have to begin by involving citizens and listening to their top wants as it is their money and tax dollars. We need to understand that people do not have the time to listen to 1-2 hour meetings weekly and should be more open about council meetings through social media.

We can create a reliability study to understand what electrical independence would look like and for properly installing drains in the flooding areas. We should be involved with the street department fighting to get side streets that are in disrepair completed.

I will also continue to be present in the community to try to drive more involvement and understanding in our community. Citizens only know what they are educated on and we can host open events.

Overall, I want to bring the city together by working as one and thinking about the whole and not just personal gain.

Why are you the best candidate for the office?

I have a a wide range of experience that has prepared me to work with a diverse group of people and to deliver for the citizens of Barberton. I like to focus on the desired outcomes and not get lost in obstacles.

I have a solid educational foundation and a breadth of career experience spanning from working with multi-national companies, to working in local government, to starting new companies from scratch. I also have a record of giving back to our community through volunteer work.

What are the top priorities you seek to address once in office?

I want to see greater levels of prosperity return to Barberton. It starts with accountability; we need to hold local government accountable to deliver the services we need, but we also need to hold ourselves and our neighbors accountable for contributing to a community we can have pride in. We also need to seek partnerships and look for sustainable economic development opportunities.

What strategies will you use to accomplish those priorities?

The main strength that I will bring is the ability to listen to all perspectives and then seek apolitical solutions that accomplish the underlying goals. If we can agree on outcomes, then there is room to negotiate on the path we take to get there. It will be important that a diverse set of perspectives is considered and not just the loudest voices, so I intend to hold ward-specific office hours on a regular basis (once a month, rotating the ward).

Previous public office: Barberton City Council At-Large

Why are you the best candidate for the office?

As a current city council representative, my priorities remain focused on what matters most to the people of Barberton. I believe in keeping our local government accountable and fiscally responsible, ensuring every taxpayer dollar is used appropriately and efficiently to deliver real results. I’ll continue to support our police and fire departments so they have the training, tools, and equipment needed to keep our community safe.

I’ll also stay responsive to everyday quality-of-life concerns — from property maintenance and potholes to water main breaks and street repairs. In addition, I’m committed to supporting our local businesses and attracting new ones to the Magic City. When our businesses grow, our community benefits through more jobs, new opportunities, and a stronger local economy.

What are the top priorities you seek to address once in office?

The biggest challenge facing our community right now is our aging infrastructure — especially our streets, water lines, and sewer systems. These are issues residents deal with every day, and they impact safety, quality of life, and even our ability to attract new businesses.

What strategies will you use to accomplish those priorities?

I’m focused on addressing these problems the right way — by prioritizing the most critical repairs first and ensuring every tax dollar is spent wisely and effectively. I will also continue to support funding things that matter most to our residents and local business owners – things that will make a real difference in our community.
